"When I first started the Wedding Day Body Plan, I didn’t have a weight goal in mind or a wedding to prepare for. I simply wanted to understand what I ate and why, so that I could change it to work better for me and my health. I come from a culture where food is used to celebrate the good times and comfort in the bad, so food is at the centre of everything. I’ve never been overweight, but I don’t think I was at my healthiest when I first started the plan and that’s something I wanted to change going into this new year. I knew that my choices, especially the things I reached for in desperate times (aka when I’m hangry right before lunch or dinner) weren’t always the best, especially in times of high stress. Bad food choices led to reduced energy, and my fitness levels suffered because I wasn’t feeding my body right. Joining the programme right before the holidays was one of the best things I’ve done. I had just finished some major family and work projects, and was ready to focus on being healthy again.
The plan is great, because it starts out exactly where you want it to and you can go at a pace that feels right for you. The best part is that Gee is there to be as involved as you want her to be – ready to answer any questions and ease any fears with facts. I challenged myself twice during my first five weeks: once with a clean eating challenge and then a juice cleanse right between Christmas and New Year, and I don’t regret either one! I learned so much: from being prepared with the right foods for snacks and eating to truly nourish and energize my body, to really understanding how food is used by the body. After my juicing challenge, I felt like I finally hit the reset button and I came out of it feeling empowered to make positive food choices. I highly recommend the programme to anyone who wants to raise their awareness about nutrition and wants to take control of their health."
